Seraphim Angels Artwork

Seraphim are the highest-ranking angelic beings in Christian angelology, derived from a Hebrew root meaning "to burn" or "fiery" to signify their intense purity and devotion. In Biblical tradition—most notably the Book of Isaiah—they are depicted with six wings, using two to cover their faces, two to cover their feet, and two to fly. Positioned directly around the Throne of God, their primary purpose is to continuously chant the Trisagion, singing "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts." While they hold the fifth rank among ten angelic orders in Jewish tradition, Christianity places them at the absolute peak of the heavenly hierarchy. Their fiery nature reflects an unquenchable passion for divine sacredness and light.
